SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to suppress flicker on electric arc furnace. Disclosed is use of thyristor ignition angles for fast prediction of flicker when energy is supplied to electric arc furnace and actively modify operating variables of electric arc furnace, to keep flicker below preset threshold. Besides, angles of thyristor ignition in a combination with control ranges of devices of variable reactive resistance are used, in order to predict criticality level of flicker created by electric arc furnace with devices of variable reactive resistance controlled by thyristors.
EFFECT: invention allows, based on the predicted level of flicker, to vary, if required, at least one working variable of electric arc furnace.
