FIELD: pipeline transportation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pipeline transportation and can be used in inspecting the pipelines predisposed to corrosion cracking under loads (CCL). The CCL initiation causes are sought for, that is, a simultaneous availability in prospect holes of the following indications, i.e. a no-soil-around-the-pipe condition, detachment of insulating pipe covering and availability of over 10% of siderite in the total content of corrosion products under pipeline insulating covering. Additional opening of the pipeline by making prospect holes till pipeline section not over 5 metres long are revealed disclosing no CCL provoking causes. Search for strain-corrosion defects on the opened pipeline is effected outside the revealed pipeline sections to set the defective section subjected to CCL. The results obtained allow determining the repair jobs volume.
EFFECT: decreased labor input in opening and analysing the pipeline, higher validity and accuracy of determination of pipeline boundaries subjected to CCL.
