FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method of modeling grain patterns of film contains the following stages: transformation of the film grain pattern sampled population containing at least one group of neighboring pixels storing the information about the form and size of film granularity switching to frequency domain; saving every collection of coefficients obtained as a result of such transformation; analysing the said transformed coefficients; filter cut frequencies evaluation capable of imitating distribution of the transformed coefficients using random noise filtering in grain pattern of film in frequency domain. The parameters of grain pattern of film can be transferred in compliance with the ITU-T H.264/MPEG-4 AVC standard in SEI-message allowing for performing restoration of grain pattern of film in the decoder.

EFFECT: provision of automatic modeling of grain pattern of film in frequency domain.
