FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method can be used to for evaluate dimensionless parameter of crack development. Method consists in that the sample is loaded with loadings variable in value and constant in time simulating stress conditions of sample material while in-service. Value of sample maximum nondestructive load is observed and exceeded, followed by partial relieves. Acoustic emission activity, as well as time intervals precending acoustic emission after each partial relief and prior to refresh of acoustic emission activity are registered. The results obtained are used to calculate values of dimensionless parameter from appropriated mathematical expressions.
EFFECT: decreased work content and reduced duration of evaluation of dimensionless parametre of crack development.
