FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the field of machine-building and may be used, for instance, for strengthening of tool, guidelines of equipment sliding, where it is impossible to apply particles of strengthening alloy. Method of billet surface layer strengthening includes billet treatment in the medium of liquid gases with electrode-tool from strengthening material, which is installed perpendicularly to the section of billet strengthened surface and is moved along the strengthened surface. Billet is moved, subsequently installing strengthened section of billet surface in the position that is close to vertical, at that onto strengthened sections of billet surface from the bottom aerosol is supplied with local jet, which is formed by mixture of liquid gas and air under pressure, which provides removal of hard particles of strengthening material from the strengthening zone. As liquid gas liquid carbonic acid is used with high temperature of gasification, and tungsten is used as strengthening material.

EFFECT: reduction of liquid gas flow rate, removal of strengthening material hard particles from the processing zone, provision of monitoring and control of strengthening point and removal of hard particles from strengthened surface.
