FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to rolling stock electrical equipment. The drive incorporates DC traction motors with their armature and excitation windings being connected in series with the first back-to-back connected outputs of a static exciter and field suppression thyristor unit. The reactor is connected in series with the current-limiting resistor bridged by the fast-operating switcher N.C. contact. The fast-operating switcher coil is wired, via the resistor, to the reactor medium output. The exciter control supply circuit is connected via the fast-operating switcher N.C. locking contact. The field suppression thyristor unit control circuit is connected via the fast-operating switcher N.O. locking contact. In compliance with the second version, to add to fast operation in revealing emergency operating conditions, the drive incorporates a current pickup with its output connected, via a differentiating component, to the fast-operating switcher cut-out coil.
EFFECT: higher-efficiency protection in emergent operating conditions.
