FIELD: railway transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical equipment of electric rolling stock, mainly, mainline railways with dc traction electric motors. Proposed drive of electric locomotive contains dc traction motors whose armature and field windings are connected to each other and static exciter into series electric circuit. Current-limiting resistor is shunted by quick-acting contactor and is connected by one lead to one contact of brake selector switch and first output of current-limiting reactor. Second output of reactor is connected with common point of circuit and other contact of brake selector switch and is furnished with thyristor. Exciter is shunted by thyristor whose anode and output of exciter are connected to normally-closed contact of brake selector switch, and cathode, to point of connection of exciter input and field winding. Diode shunted by normally-open contact is connected by anode to second output of current-limiting resistor, and by cathode, to point of connection of armature windings and field windings.
EFFECT: improved efficiency of protection of traction motors in emergencies, provision of stable operation of drive at regeneration.
