METHOD FOR DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSTICS OF AHALASION AND CARDIOSPASM Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC A61B5/00

Abstract RU 2334454 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: measurement of manometric characteristics of esophagus in quiet state is carried out, i.e. average respiratory pressure of lower esophagus sphincter (LES), degree of LES relaxation, esophageal peristalsis. In patients with detected signs of achalasia, additionally, LES pressure and degree of its relaxation during swallowing, 15 minutes after intramuscular injection of diazepam solution in dose of 0.15 mg/kg of body weight and solution of drotaverine hydrochloride in dose of 0.57 mg/kg of body weight are measured. With value of average respiratory LES pressure less than 40 mm of mercury and value of degree of its relaxation higher than 60% during swallowing functional cardiospasm is diagnosed. If there are no changes in indices value, true cardia achalasia is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method allows differentiating organic and functional affection of lower esophagus sphincter.
