FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to devices for generating neutron beams, in particular, to generators of one-time pulses of neutron and X-ray radiation. Pulse source of penetrating radiation is arranged in the form of one or several modules, each containing capacitance accumulator connected to high voltage power supply source and connected, via high-current high-voltage commutator and cable line, with loading unit, which is a current collector, and discharge chamber installed in it, where charge of "plasma focus" type is formed, and a system of commutator start-up. Cable line is made of coaxial wires of equal length, which are evenly distributed along circumference of current-conducting flanges of commutator and loading unit. Interelectrode electric insulation of loading unit is made from multi-layer packet of gaskets from dielectric material. High-current high-voltage commutator is arranged in the form of vacuum controlled discharger, which cathode of is galvanically connected to bus bar of zero potential. Plates of current collector are galvanically connected between themselves via throttle. Discharge chamber is made in the form of gas-filled soldered instrument. Pulse source of penetrating radiation contains system of electric safety, which consists of high-voltage vacuum relay and discharge resistors that are connected to plus bus bar of capacitance accumulator and provide discharge of capacitance accumulator after disconnection of pulse source.
EFFECT: creation of source of pulse penetrating radiation capable of multiple radiation of pulses of neutron and X-ray radiation with intensity much higher than that created in similar known devices and capable of autonomous usage.
