DEVICE FOR PUMPING HIGH-POWER PULSE-PERIODIC GAS LASER Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

Abstract RU 2141708 C1

FIELD: quantum electronics. SUBSTANCE: device used for pumping CO2-lasers incorporating provision for pre-ionizing laser medium with ultraviolet rays has pumping discharge electrodes, pulsed power system using LC-generator circuit arrangement whose electrodes (of which one is connected to common bus of circuit) are connected to series circuit of storage capacitors whose center tap is connected to high-voltage bushing of voltage supply; other pumping discharge electrode is connected through charging resistor to common bus of circuit; lower side of capacitors is connected to main electrodes of high-current switch built around thyratron; circuit is provided with ultraviolet ray pre-ionizator in the form of spark gap arranged in vicinity of gas medium across which firing voltage is built up. Pumping discharge electrode of device connected to charging resistor and functioning as cathode is solid structure made of material possessing high photoemissive properties; other electrode functioning as anode is of planar rectangular shape with central opening in the form of grid transparent to ultraviolet radiation; pre-ionizator spark gap is of linear multiple-gap design arranged directly under anode grid; center tap of storage capacitors is connected to thyratron anode through primary winding of reactor-transformer introduced in circuit, its secondary windings being connected to spark-gap sections. EFFECT: improved mean power and continuous running time of laser, improved service life and reliability of its main parts. 4 cl, 2 dwg
