SUBSTANCE: encoding device proposed contains the following components: encoding unit for image encoding; image definition unit to determine, whether the image is interlaced-scanned or progressive-scanned; marking unit to set the result, determined by image definition unit, as scanning type flag. The latter represents information, needed to calculate clockTimestamp value; data definition unit to set the data of image display system, which determines the display system of the encoding target image; multiplexing unit to multiplex the image encoding result with scanning flag, data of image display system mark and output of multiplexed result, where encoding unit is configured so that to provide a capability to assign priority to at least one certain result of image definition, i.e. to assign priority to either interlaced-scanned type or to progressive-scanned type of image in case of ambivalent image determination.

EFFECT: provision of capability to display progressive-scanned image without loss of its vertical resolution.
