FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to surgery, and can be used for prediction of acute pancreatitis outcome. Method is realised as follows. Once admitted to hospital patient is tested for ascorbate content in blood serum. If it is more than 0.94±0.09 mmol/l, prognosis is considered to be favourable. Content less than 0.45±0.06 mmol/l indicates unfavourable prognosis. Intermediate value shows doubtful prognosis.
EFFECT: higher prediction accuracy of acute pancreatitis outcome.
