METHOD OF CENTRIFUGAL CAST OF MASSIVE BIMETALLIC ROLLERS WITH SOLID CROSS-SECTION Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC B22D13/00 B22D19/16 

FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: bimetallic roller is produced out of two heterogeneous by their chemical compositions irons. The exterior working layer is made out of iron containing 4.0-4.5% of nickel, while the interior layer consists of high strength iron with globular graphite. A layer of a heat insulating zirconium paint of 0.5-2.9% from the thickness of the exterior layer of the roller is applied onto inside surface of a rotating mold. Then iron of the exterior layer is cast; flux at amount of 2.5-3.5 kg per square meter of the inside surface of the exterior layer is introduced into the mold. When the exterior layer hardens, the mold is transferred into a vertical position. Iron of the interior layer at amount of 40-70% from the weight of roller cast is mold when the inside surface of the exterior layer cools to the temperature 15-180°C lower its solidus temperature. Casting of iron of the interior layer is carried out at the temperature of 110-300° above the temperature of liquidus.

EFFECT: there is facilitated strong connection of rollers layers, production of uniform structure and uniform distribution of hardness along section and length of working layer of roller.
