FIELD: foundry engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method consists in forming an outer working layer of wear-resistant chromium-nickel cast iron in a casting mould rotated at a speed of 650 rpm with the required hardness in the range of 510 to 550 HB for rolls with a corrugated surface and 470 to 500 HB for rolls with a micro-rough surface, with a strong adhesion to the inner layer made of more plastic non-alloyed cast iron with a hardness of 180 to 230 HB poured into the casting mould at a higher rotation speed of 780 rpm, with the interval from the beginning of casting the metal of the working layer determined by the speed of the advancement of the hardening front of the working layer from the external surface to the inner surface thereof at a rate of 9 mm/min.
EFFECT: provided required structure of the chilled working layer of the drums of milling rolls.
