FIELD: electric engineering.

SUBSTANCE: number of deposit-welds of filler wire onto shaft is performed with changing in each deposit-weld the duration of current pulse propagation within pulse width in the analysed mode. The rest parameters of welding deposition are not changed. Before each welding deposition the length of filler wire is measured and after welding the length and the width of created welded bead of metal coating is measured. In accordance with measurement results relative axial deformation of filler wire and thickness of metal coating is determined. In accordance with these values the sizes of contact areas of filler metal with shaft and roller are determined. For each welding deposition maximal tensile stresses in cross sections of deformed filler wire are determined, dependence of these stresses on current pulse propagation time is revealed, and in accordance with this dependence the moment of weld joint formation is established which corresponds to current pulse value at which tensile stresses in filler metal are equal to the limit of metal plastic resistance.

EFFECT: improved determination of start moment of weld joint formation during electric contact welding deposition.
