FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: process includes sulfonating with oleum with excessive amount of sovtol relative to oleum at temperature 100-180°C and further neutralization by salt-forming agent - triethanolamine. Reaction of sulfonation is carried out with molar ratio sovtol: oleum equal 1: (from 0.55 to less than 0.6), after reaction mass neutralization free sovtol is extracted with solvent - toluol, whose amount is equal 0.75% of initial sovtol mass, after which toluol with extracted sovtol are regenerated, cube residue - sovtol is returned to sulfonation stage, toluol is returned to extraction stage. Free sovtol extraction is carried out in cyclic way until set content of residual sovtol in end product is less than 0.1%, or continuously, passing toluol under pressure with mixing through layer of reaction mass from bottom upwards, sovtol extract being removed from paste surface.

EFFECT: processing of polychlordiphenyl-containing substances until content of free residual sovtol in end product is less than 0,1%.
