FIELD: physics; mechanics.

SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to generating a loading impulse in an instrument using an impact device activated by a pressure fluid, particularly boring machines or perforators. According to the invention the instrument is brought into contact with material, subjected to impact action, for processing the material. The pressure fluid is put into the impact device and released from it to activate the impact device. The impact device comprises a frame, to which in the longitudinal direction the instrument is fixed. During impact the instrument is brought into contact with the material, subjected to the impact action, and the apparatus for letting the pressure fluid into the impact device and releasing the pressure fluid from it, so as to activate the impact device. The impact device comprises a working chamber and an apparatus for transmitting the pressure fluid in form of pressure impulses into the working chamber, located between the frame of the impact device and the instrument. The pressure fluid is transmitted in form of pressure impulses into the working chamber such that, pressure of the fluid creates a force between the frame of the impact device and the instrument. That force presses the instrument to the processed material such that, under the effect of that force in the instrument, in its longitudinal direction, a loading impulse is generated, and the loading impulse propagates in the instrument to the processed material. Generation of the loading impulse practically stops at exactly that moment, when the force stops acting on the instrument.

EFFECT: reduced adverse effects of dynamic forces, arising from the operation of the impact device.
