FIELD: laser technology.
SUBSTANCE: between two luminescent layers of "КЖК", a retarder controlled by an electric field is put. Feedback and consequently intensity of generation is determined by matching the phase between natural waves of the laser generation. Generation in the given configuration of the laser element occurs at the edge of the band gap, where there are different generation modes, distinguished by wavelength, and as a rule pumping threshold. All these modes have different polarisations. If there is a small change of phase delay between the "КЖК" layers, conditions for generation can be more favourable first for one mode, and then for the other, i.e. there can be swapping of intensity from one generation mode to another. That way change in phase delay, controlled by the electric field, leads to change in intensity and/or wavelength of the laser radiation.
EFFECT: smooth control of generation of laser radiation.
