FIELD: physics, optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to laser engineering. A method for passive radiation mode synchronisation in an ultrashort pulse laser with an integral optical cavity comprises using the nonlinear polarisation evolution effect and stacking coils of optical fibre to form twists and turns which do not prevent propagation of optical radiation in the optical fibre and which result in birefringence and relative phase delay of the polarisation component, sufficient to trigger passive mode synchronisation through the nonlinear polarisation evolution effect.
EFFECT: facilitating efficient conversion of optical pumping energy into the energy of generated pulses using a reliable laser design which does not require maintenance during operation and transportation.
