FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: processed are radioactive wastes of fuel compositions, containing uranium dioxide and polyethylene, obtaining marketable uranium protoxide-oxide, used for nuclear fuel breeding. Uranium-containing composition, consisting of uranium dioxide and polyethylene, is subjected to thermal processing in hydrogen passage during 0.5-2 hours at temperature 500-700°C with rate of heating 2-10°C/min, and separated in the process uranium-containing constituent of composition is subjected to re-processing in air at temperature 500-800°C during 2-5 hours in presence of oxidant in amount constituting 1-5 wt % from weight of uranium-containing constituent of composition.
EFFECT: improved method of processing of uranium-containing composition.
