FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and uranium technology, particularly to a method of processing a uranium-molybdenum composition. Method of uranium-molybdenum composition processing includes its oxidation and calcination in air medium with subsequent separation of molybdenum from uranium-containing solid residue. Oxidation of the uranium-molybdenum composition is carried out at a temperature below the melting point of molybdenum trioxide, the mixture of uranium and molybdenum oxides obtained after oxidation is ground to particles whose size does not exceed 500 mcm. Obtained particles are distributed with a layer with thickness of not more than 15 mm and calcined at a temperature higher than the boiling point of molybdenum trioxide, wherein the calcination duration is calculated by the formula T=0.8H+11.5D, where T is duration of calcination, h, H is thickness of oxide layer of uranium and molybdenum, mm, D is average particle size of uranium and molybdenum oxides, mm.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce stadiality and simplify the process of separation of uranium and molybdenum, to exclude transfer of uranium-molybdenum composition to salt solution and its hydrometallurgical redistribution without reduction of degree of purification of uranium oxide from uranium from molybdenum.
