FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: automatic air circuit breaker comprises two power leads for connecting to load and to power supply network, fixed and movable main contacts, fixed and movable arcing contacts, arc chute, flexible coupling, electromagnetic drive with trip-free release mechanism, overload relay, start and stop buttons. Electrodynamic coil, magnetic rod, metal disc and insulation rod are added, the electrodynamic coil is included into power current circuit and is rigidly connected to insulated casing. The movable main contact, magnetic rod and metal disc are rigidly connected to each other; the magnetic rod is placed inside the electrodynamic coil, coaxially to it and can be moved axially; with main contacts being closed the metal disc is closely pressed to the electrodynamic coil end surface and connected through the insulation rod to the electromagnetic drive and trip-free release mechanism. In case of short circuit in the power network the short circuit current runs through the electrodynamic coil and the short circuited power circuit is quickly opened due to the repulsive force generated between the coil and metal disc.
EFFECT: reducing proper and complete time of load short circuit opening in power circuit.
