FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: method includes setting of rated excitation currents within the armature speed range from zero to nominal speed, and when armature speed exceeds the nominal value, excitation currents will be reduced in inverse proportion to speed so that EMF created by motor armatures would be always lower than maximum armature supply voltage, and torque is controlled by supply voltage variation of railway motor armatures.
EFFECT: improved speed-torque characteristic of railway electric drive and simplified drive circuit diagram.
