FIELD: transport machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric traction systems of vehicles. Method of reducing current surges of electric locomotive traction motors consists in the fact that to the input of the operational amplifier, a signal is supplied from the algebraic difference of the voltage of the contact network, obtained from the voltage sensor, and the specified nominal voltage of the contact network, obtained signal is supplied to bias windings as input voltage. At that, traction motors armatures are connected in series, excitation windings are connected to excitation circuit together with independent voltage source and inductive reactor, magnetizing windings are connected to excitation windings.

EFFECT: reduced effect of voltage surges on operation of electric locomotive traction motors.
