FIELD: physics, measurement.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to mass spectrometer analysers and ionisers with crossed magnetic and electric fields. Mass spectrometer accommodates a pair of overall planar parallel interspaced electrodes with protrusions associated thus limiting ion generation chamber, and exit aperture. Management of electric field directed perpendicular to applied magnetic field is supposed to divide ion beam into beams set from mass-to-charge ratio, transmitted by device output. As the device operates as a mass spectrometer, ion beam impacts ion collector responding data to interacting processor. If the device is required to be applied as ioniser, ion collector adjoining ion output is removed.

EFFECT: improved specifications of mass spectrometer analyser and ioniser with crossed magnetic and electric fields.
