FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: atomic-beam tube on a beam of caesium atoms contains the following in a housing: an atomic beam source, caesium atomic state selection system, magnetic protection system, microwave resonator, weak uniform magnetic field solenoid, magnetic mass spectrometre, magnetic sputter-ion pump, caesium vapour absorbers placed along the path of the atomic beam, atomic beam indicator, ion collector and collector ion current amplifier. Atomic beam indicator has a housing with an internal partition in form of a flat anode diaphragm with an opening, a focusing electrode with a flat slotted opening, a thermal ioniser in form of a metal tape put inside the slotted opening of the focusing electrode such that, the line of symmetry of the slotted opening of the focusing electrode and the line of symmetry of the ioniser tape lie in the same plane, and an absorber. In the focusing electrode on the side of the anode on opposite flat surfaces of the slotted opening there are identical projections in form of plates with thickness t, which limit the width p of the slotted opening of the focusing electrode to width h, where: 15,0≤p/w≤20.0; 5.0≤h/w≤10.0; 0.8≤t/w≤1.0, where w is width of the thermal ioniser tape.

EFFECT: wider zone of current flow and stable current flow to the collector under contact potential difference and other destabilising factors.
