FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to quantum frequency standard (QFS) equipment based on caesium atomic beam tubes, meant for use as ultra-stable frequency sources in different navigation systems, including the GLONASS satellite system. The atomic beam indicator for a caesium atomic beam tube has a housing with an inner partition in form of a flat diaphragm with an opening for passage of caesium atoms and ions, which is the anode of the ion-optical system, a focusing electrode with a flat slotted opening, a thermal ioniser in form of a flat metal band lying inside the slotted opening of the focusing electrode and electrically insulated from it, a compact porous getter and an ion collector, as well as a flat electrode lying parallel to the side surfaces of the ioniser band at a distance S and electrically connected to one end of the ioniser band, wherein the distance S is determined from the condition: 0.4≤S/w≤0.8, where w is the width of the thermal ioniser band.
EFFECT: wider region of current flow on potential of the focusing electrode and the ioniser band, high stability of current flow with respect to the destabilising effect of contact potential difference (CPD), longer service life of an on-board caesium atomic beam tube.
