FIELD: technological processes; chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method includes formation of deposited mercury compound on surface from significant part of total mercury amount in spent gas without application of chemical catalyst, sublimation of deposited mercury compound back to spent gas in the form of mercury dichloride from surface without substantial production of elementary mercury and removal of sublimated mercury dichloride from spent gas by means of purification. Specified surface is the surface of spent gas flow modifier installed inside of this flow, which contacts with spent gases and has larger area for deposition of significant part of mercury available in this flow. Surface is made of metal or ceramic material. Spent gases have temperature of 150-300°C.
EFFECT: lower discharge of mercury in process of spent gases purification, higher efficiency of gases purification from mercury compounds.
