SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electromagnetic minerals prospecting. Submerged electromagnetic (EM) field generator for electromagnetic survey of sea bed comprises AC/DC converter for converting AC input signal to DC output signal, and switching module, which generates waveform reference signal by selective switching of DC output signal. Switching module comprises the first and the second pair of switches. Each pair of switches is connected in series between the first and the second DC inputs. The first and the second output signal electrodes are connected to connection points between each pair of switches. Generator comprises antenna for electromagnetic field generation as a response to waveform reference signal. Antenna consists of a pair of electrodes connected to respective output signal electrodes.
EFFECT: possibility to generate square-wave or rectangular-wave signals with steep transient sections, which are substantially independent of AC input signal parameters.
