FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention can be used for treatment of air and aqueous media. The device comprises: sealed case 1, with inlet and outlet 5, filter 6, for filtering off dust and moisture from oxygen containing gas, and coaxial bottle 2, made from synthetic quartz glass. Coaxial bottle 2 is filled with xenon or a mixture of argon and bromine at 100-400 torr pressure. Case 1 also has an external high voltage electrode 3 and an internal earth electrode 4, in form of stainless steel netting. Radiation in the bottle arises when barrier discharge is initiated when high frequency high voltage pulses are applied to electrodes. Under the effect of radiation in bottle 2, water photolysis takes place and hydrogen peroxide is formed. Radiation from the outer surface of bottle 2 is absorbed by oxygen, with formation of ozone inside case 1.
EFFECT: lower power costs.
