FIELD: water treatment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to filtration for the removal of mechanical impurities from liquids and gases. A filtering element comprises a holed frame with a filtering baffle formed by spiral wound wire being mounted on its surface. The frame is cone-shaped, the holes are made on its generating surface as inclined spiral slots, two wire layers are wound over the holes. The first winding layer forms the first filtering baffle controlling the filtration rating while the second winding layer forms the second filtering baffle providing for prefiltration and protection of the first baffle from abrasive wear and mechanical damage.

EFFECT: improving operation characteristics along with increasing filtration capacity and operational reliability of the element.
