FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to organic chemistry, particularly to the method of producing functionally substituted fullerenes, which can be used as complexing agents, sorbents, biologically active compounds, as well as in making new materials with given electronic, magnetic and optical properties. The essence of the method lies in reaction of fullerene C60 with thiophane in the presence of a Cp2HfCl2 catalyst in a toluene medium at 140-160°C temperature for 5-7 hours.
EFFECT: design of a method of selective production of 2,3-fullero-7-thiabicyclo[2,2,1]heptane with 47-70% output of target product.
