FIELD: personal use articles.

SUBSTANCE: invention deals with design of a convertible and its fold-up/fold-down mechanism. The convertible consists of multiple hinged quadrangular elements, synchronisation fixtures and a fold-up/fold-down mechanism. The fold-up/fold-down mechanism contains at least a single lever whose end is connected to the frame via a swivel joint element. The other lever end is pivotally connected either immediately to the rigid frame structure or to any fixture enabling attachment to the rigid frame. The swivel joint element additionally provides for pivotal connection of the head cushion frame to the adjoining frame.

EFFECT: proposed design eliminates the risk of accidental fold-up of the convertible to have been folded down caused by the user having sat down on the convertible close to the swivel joint.
