FIELD: technological processes; metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to ferrous metallurgy, in particular to methods for smelting of rail steel in electric arc furnace. Method includes charging of scrap metal into furnace, pouring of liquid cast iron, lime doping, melting of metal charge, oxidation of carbon by gaseous oxygen, dephosphorisation by means of iron ore and lime doping, flushing of oxidising slag via threshold of working window, steel yield with isolation of furnace slag into bucket, lime, fluorspar and ferroalloys doping to bucket in process of mixture yield and further steel chemical composition finishing in apparatus "bucket-furnace".
EFFECT: higher resistance of furnace lining, lower expenditure of ferroalloys, lower content of gases in steel and level of steel contamination by non-metal inclusions, higher level of steel mechanical properties and lower prime cost of smelted steel.
