FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method includes supply of metal charge and slagging materials, their heating and melting, oxidising refining by means of bath oxygen blasting with slag foaming, output of part of slag from furnace and steel from furnace. At that during period of refining, when metal temperature reaches 1580-1610 °C and consumption of electrical power for melting is 75-88%, highly magnesian material is supplied to the bath in two stages. This material contains over 80% of MgO, in quantity of 6.5-10.0 kg/t of steel for production of magnesian slag with 5.1-10.0% of MgO and formation of wear-resistant skull on lining, and this magnesian slag is left in furnace for further melting.
EFFECT: improving resistance of furnace lining and reducing electrical power consumption.
