FLUID LEVEL METER Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC G01F23/292

Abstract RU 2350913 C2

FIELD: physics, measurement.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to measurement equipment, in particular to facilities for control of fluid level in reservoirs, for instance at gas stations, and may be used also in oil, fuel, chemical and other industry fields. Fluid level meter comprises floating platform, which is able to freely move in vertical direction whenever fluid level is changed, source of light and receiver of optical signal fixed above fluid surface so that its optical axis passes through floating platform. At that floating platform is equipped with the first inclined mirror installed on the platform above fluid level at the angle to light source axis. Reflecting element is installed on the platform below fluid level. On the platform, above fluid level, the following components are fixed - the second inclined mirror installed at the angle to axis of optical signal receiver, and lens, optical axis of which coincides with optical axis of optical signal optical axis. The first inclined mirror is installed on the floating platform so that light beam from light source, being reflected from the mirror, falls on the surface of reflecting element installed below fluid level with provision of illumination of fluid surface by beam reflected from it in the area of length bar location. The second inclined mirror that provides for reflection of area of liquid surface crossing with length bar is installed for direction of light flux to the side of television camera objective via lens.

EFFECT: provision of high accuracy of fluid level measurement, provision of reliability, manufacturability, durability and maintainability of level meter, which is stipulated first by creation of sharp image of fluid surface near measuring staff due to illumination at the bottom, second, by creation of additional illumination of measuring staff scale in the area of measurement by light flux reflected from fluid surface from the side of light source.
