FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: method for determining liquid mass consists in measurement of liquid level, measurement of liquid density and determination of liquid mass in a tank as to volume. Average value of liquid density in the tank is determined by means of periodic measurements of liquid density in surface layer and at depth through equal time intervals till the moment when density values at the depth and the surface are levelled. Then, arithmetic mean density value is calculated by using the last values of liquid density in surface layer and at depth. Then, liquid level is measured by means of a measuring rod fixed in the tank by receiving a television image of the measuring rod in zone of its contact to liquid surface. The measuring rod is lit with a light source located together with the television camera above liquid surface, and for fracture of travel of lighting beams there used is a mirror fixed on a float under the liquid surface inclined to the axis of the light source and the axis of television camera lens. The float is installed on the measuring rod with possibility of vertical movement at the change of liquid level; an image is transmitted by means of the television camera to a measurement result displaying device. Then, considering calibration characteristic of a certain tank as per the measured value of level there determined is liquid volume in the tank; after that, as per the obtained volume value and arithmetic mean value of density there determined is liquid mass in the tank.

EFFECT: improving accuracy of determination of liquid mass at use in large tanks.
