FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and can be applied to determination of boundary surface between transparent liquid media with different refraction coefficients, for measurement of liquid level height, and for creation of counter in hydrostatic level tool. In present invention, photo-registering device is placed into shaded measuring chamber, and it crosses boundary line between media, then projected image of interface by illumination it with directed beam, from side of medium with higher refraction index, at angles exceeding critical angle of total internal reflection. Based on signals of coordinate photodetector included in photo-registering device, number of illuminated cells and level of boundary is determined. Device comprises special mechanism for adjusting required value of aperture angle of beam. Measuring chamber may be equipped with several light-beam projector - photodetector pairs in order to reduce error of height level measurement, arising due to inclination of chamber housing.

EFFECT: technical result is increased accuracy of measurements.
