FIELD: physics; communications.
SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to communication techniques and can be used for channel evaluation and spatial processing for an MIMO system. During normal operation, a MIMO pilot-signal is transmitted to the first communication line and is used for evaluating channel response of the first communication line, which is resolved for obtaining a diagonal matrix of singular values and a first unitary matrix, containing left characteristic vectors of the first communication line and right characteristic vectors of the second communication line. A controlled reference signal (reference) is transmitted on the second communication line, using characteristic vectors of the first unitary matrix, and is processed so as to obtain a diagonal matrix and a second unitary matrix, containing left characteristic vectors of the second communication line and right characteristic vectors of the first communication line. Each unitary matrix can be used for spatial processing for receiving/transmitting data on both communication lines.
EFFECT: making out the difference in responses of receiving/transmitting circuits at the access point and user terminal.
