FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention is provided for increasing of rolls resistance on quarto mills of cold rolling and steel strip pinch-pass rolling and quality of rolled strips. Method includes polishing of work roll, notching, electrolytic chromium-plating and roll working in mill. Roll is grinded till achieving of surface roughness 0.3-0.8 mcm R_a, after what it is made incisions till surface roughness 2.0-4.0 mcm R_a, and electrolytic chromium-plating is implemented in chromic acid solution at electrolyte temperature 55-65°C and current density 22-65 A/dm². Furthermore, electrolytic chromium-plating is implemented per three stages: at first at current density 22-30 A/dm² during 18-22 min, then at current density 55-65 A/dm² during 1-2 min. and it is finished at current density 44-50 A/dm² and persistence time 90-110 min.

EFFECT: receiving of stable specified surface roughness of chromium-plate layer of roller at simultaneous increasing of its resistance against frictional wear.
