FIELD: rolling production.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used on quarto mills for cold rolling and skin tempering of steel strips. The method includes grinding the barrel of the roll, electrolytic chromium plating of the roll, at the beginning of which the upper layer of the roll is heated to a temperature of at least 0.5 of the electrolyte temperature, then, at the first stage, reverse current is supplied at its density of 10-45 A/dm2 for 1-25 min, after that, in the second stage, direct current is supplied at its density of 35-80 A/dm2 for 60-210 min, at the third stage, direct current is supplied at its density of 60-200 A/dm2 for 45-200 min and reverse current is supplied at its density of 15-50 A/dm2 for 3-10 min, while the third stage is repeated 3-10 times, and then at the fourth stage direct current is supplied at its density of 40-100 A/dm2 for 30-70 minutes.

EFFECT: increased wear resistance of casting rolls due to the creation of a globular microrelief on their surface without using the operation of electric discharge texturing.
