FIELD: mechanics.
SUBSTANCE: method of separating loose material comprises forming, in the vertical reaction zone, a falling down metered portion of loose material with varying grain size and density particles along with forming, in the aforesaid zone, a one-way upward air flow. The latter reduces the speed of falling down of smaller grain size and density particles. A static resistance is created on the particles free fall-down way to reduce the fall-down speed of larger grain-size and density particles. The particles reached the reaction zone bottom, a higher density smaller and larger particles layer is, first, formed, followed by forming the layer of lower density particles. The proposed method is implemented using the device comprising a vertical chamber incorporating the upward air flow feed appliance. The said chamber represents a long length cylinder furnished with, at least, one horizontal perforated partition, perforations diameter exceeding the larger particle cross section by some 20%. The chamber top accommodates loose material feeding device furnished with a metering appliance and air discharge branch pipe. The chamber bottom accommodates separation products accumulating appliance comprising, at least, two reservoirs arranged one above the other to independently move relative each other.
EFFECT: higher efficiency separation.
