PLASMA TORCH (VERSIONS) Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC B23K10/00

Abstract RU 2353485 C1

FIELD: welding jobs.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to plasma torches and can be used for plasma processing of materials, in particular to cut and weld metals. The proposed plasma torch comprises a casing, swirler, rod electrode, dielectric tube, jet nozzle with open central channel, discharge and vortex chambers. The rod electrode end face part is contracted towards the jet nozzle and arranged so that to form, with it, a circular confuser space. The cylindrical-space discharge chamber features a confuser coupling with the swirler inner surface and confuser coupling with the outlet of the jet nozzle central channel. Note here that the contraction of the coupling with central channel outlet exceeds that with the swirler inner surface. The jet nozzle central channel outlet can have widening downstream of the gas flow. Narrowing of the coupling with the jet nozzle central channel opening does not exceed that with the swirler inner surface.

EFFECT: increased plasma jet length and gas-dynamic pressure along with improved stabilisation of electric arc, reduced heat losses.
