RESECTION ATRIOPLASTY TECHNIQUE IN LEFT ATRIOMEGALIA Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC A61B17/00

Abstract RU 2354309 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to cardiovascular surgery. Mitral valvular heart disease is surgically corrected. Then mitral valve and left atrium cavity are inspected in approaching through the right circuit of left atrium in parallel to Waterstone's sulcus. Then, ensuring a bypass through the mouth of the right pulmonary veins, incisions are continued towards the left pulmonary veins. Two triangular flaps are excised on the superior and posteroinferior atrium wall, with the triangle base being a line from right to the left pulmonary veins, while the triangle vertices are directed towards the mid-platform of pulmonary veins. The flaps are cut out with ensuring 5-10 mm from the mouths of the right pulmonary veins. The dimensions of the excised wall of the left atrium are determined by expansion ratio of the left atrium thereafter recovering the cavity tightness with ring-shaped double layer atraumatic suturing.

EFFECT: recovered anatomy and function of the left cardiac parts to avoid dangerous complications.
