FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to cardiac surgery. Left atrial appendage is amputated in the surgical management of the patients with atrial fibrillation. Base of the latter is closed by means of two opposite felt strips by means of a horizontal mattress suture; after tying both ends of the suture, the left atrial appendage above the strips is cut off. Upper edge of the strips is stitched with both ends of the same suture by overlapping a double-row blanket suture.
EFFECT: method enables eliminating the risk of intraoperative haemorrhage, forming a left atrial appendage stump of an insignificant size, eliminating the substrate for the formation of a thrombus in the remote region period, regardless of the anatomy of the appendage and without opening the cavity of the left atrium.
