FIELD: physics; measurement.

SUBSTANCE: present invention can be used for determining the technical state of a ship hull, made from composite materials. Using a non-destructive method, internal exfoliation defects are checked for, arising while the ship is in use, and their surface areas are measured. The value of these areas are compared with the rated value, calculated under the condition of arising of stress in the region of the defect, exceeding the breaking stress and enabling steady increase of exfoliation defects in the composite material.

EFFECT: more reliable assessment of the technical state of a ship hull made from composite materials.
