FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to evaluation of physical and mechanical properties of polymer composite materials (PCM) in parts and structures without destruction thereof and can be used to determine their physical and mechanical properties in aircraft, shipbuilding and other branches of machine building. Non-destructive testing is carried out on a spiral computer tomograph (SCT), and the state of the structural material layers is assessed by one information parameter – the X-ray radiation attenuation coefficient in Hounsfield units (HU), use of correlation dependencies obtained during inspection of reference samples on SCT allows determining density and mechanical characteristics of material by values of HU, comparison of the measurement results of the reference and investigated main rotor head is carried out using histograms showing the percentage of HU values in the investigated section; for this purpose, an algorithm for automated processing of tomographic research data has been developed, in which the data of the SCT are received as a digital prototype of a real article, which contains information on the distribution of layers of materials in the volume of the article, their physical and mechanical characteristics and data on local defects.

EFFECT: improving reliability of non-destructive testing, reducing time for processing results, determining physical and mechanical characteristics of layers of materials for further strength calculations of multilayer main rotor head.
