FIELD: physics; communication.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to positioning systems. The method involves making a first component measurement using measurements of GPS carrier phases at frequencies L1, L2 and L5. To reduce noise in the first component measurement, the method involves making a second component measurement using measurements of GPS carrier phases at, at least, two of the three GPS carrier frequencies. The second component measurement is made such that, it has low noise from multi-beam propagation so that it can be used for smoothing out the first component measurement, thereby obtaining minimum noise from multi-beam propagation.

EFFECT: generation of measurements of carrier phases with resolved uncertainty, with corrected refraction and minimum noise.
