FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: set of ambiguities, which are associated with carrier phase measurements of at least some of the signals received from satellites in an identified set of satellites, are identified (step 420 on dwg. 4A). Integer ambiguities are estimated and a best version set and a second best version set of integer ambiguity values are determined (step 430). Upon determining that the best set of integer ambiguity values fail to meet a discrimination test (step 440), each ambiguity for which integer ambiguity values in the best version set and second best version set fail to meet predefined criteria are removed from the set of ambiguities to obtain a reduced set of ambiguities (step 450 on dwg. 4B). The integer ambiguities in the reduced set of ambiguities are then resolved (step 468 on dwg. 4C) and an output data are generated in accordance with the resolved integer ambiguities (step 470 on dwg. 4C).

EFFECT: enabling resolution of integer ambiguity at a higher rate, for high range applications and in problem environments.
