FIELD: physics, measurements.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measuring light transmission in atmosphere and determining meteorological range of visibility and can be used at runways. The proposed device comprises the radiator and radiation receiver systems arranged at post structure made up of pipes, composed of the inner load-bearing pipe and outer pipe protecting the former, and mechanically isolated from it. Aforesaid inner pipe supports all measuring hardware components designed to center optically the radiator and receiver systems, the outer pipe accommodating all structural elements that can vary their spatial position due to gravity, wind force or directional sun radiation to keep optical alignment unhampered. The atmosphere dissipation factor metre makes an integral part of the device measuring the light transmission and is directly coupled with the outer pipe. Protective glass plates, V-shaped and arranged at 90° relative to each other, are mounted ahead of aforesaid radiator and receiver systems to protect electronic and optical components against dirt. Every V-shaped system of protective glasses incorporates a light transmission device to determine the degree of their contamination. The radiator and receiver systems are furnished with universal joint-type drive.
